Ever wondered what boots Sir Alex Ferguson wears?
Well, we have the answer! His boot of choice since 2002 has been the Nike Tiempo. Sir Alex is a regular out on the pitch and like any serious manager, he is not afraid to step in and give a quick demo of how it should be done. Over the past 11 seasons, he has been sporting a consistent black colorway in the heritage range, following the line of Tiempo releases through those years, from the Premier to the Legend. The only one he hasn’t taken to is the current Tiempo Legend IV release (which features no tongue). Important to note, Manchester United has been sponsored by Nike that entire time, which does mean he had to stick to wearing Nike boots.
But he hasn’t always been a Tiempo range.
Back in the 1999/2000 season when Manchester United won the treble, they were sponsored by Umbro and that had Fergie wearing an iconic pair of Umbro Speciali. Again, he stuck it out with the Blackout colorway.
And then there was his managerial career before heading to Manchester. While manager of Aberdeen and Scotland, he sported some Umbro boots. Aberdeen were sponsored by Adidas at the time, so it makes sense that he would be wearing the signature 3-stripe boots.
We salute everything Sir Alex has done over the past three decades and appreciate the fact that his choice of footwear stayed as consistent as his winning attitude!
Just weeks after the cleat¡¯s initial launch, adidas has released a new alternate colorway for the adidas Predator LZ II in a more subtle black, green, and white color scheme.
The adidas Predator LZ II has a bold and new look, once again pursuing the title of most innovative cleat on the market. Although some Predator purists might feel that the latest model strays too far from the initial Predator ethos, they would do well to remember that the collection has always been ahead of its time and despite initial backlash from angry consumers, new models almost always prove to be an able and award winning cleat. This new and more understated colorway will also go some way to appeasing long time Predator fans.
Rather than a total overhaul from its predecessor, the LZ II simply builds on already tried and tested technologies. The cleat once again features a Hybridtouch upper, a super soft leather-mimicking synthetic that combines the advantages of both synthetic and natural leathers to great effect. The comfortable, water-repelling, and light upper is similar to Nike¡¯s Kangalite that features on the CTR360 Maestri III.
Although aesthetically different, the five lethal zones are for the most part the same as those that featured on the first LZ model. With advice from top professionals including the likes of Xavi, Mezut Ozil, Samir Nasri, and Nani, the five zones are designed to aid players with different aspects of their game.
The five zones are first touch, drive, sweet spot, dribble, and pass. The various zones and pads have been increased in size and surface area from the past model to offer even more performance enhancing benefits to the wearer.
As with all of the rest of adidas¡¯ top cleats, the Predator LZ II is outfitted with adidas¡¯ signature SprintFrame and Traxion soleplate, which keeps the cleat lightweight and stable while maintaining maximum grip and acceleration. Also similar to adidas¡¯ other cleats, the Predator LZ II is MiCoach compatible.
